How to Eliminate Your Bad Breath by Tongue Cleaning

Bad Breath ReportDo you know that your tongue cause bad breath too? Many people are surprised to know this since they don't realize how much of their bad breath is caused by the tongue in the first place. Fortunately, for us, we can actually eliminate our bad breath by tongue cleaning.

The reason that you can eliminate your bad breath by tongue cleaning is that the tongue is a breeding ground for bacteria and germs.  How so?  It typically has a lot of decaying food particles left over from eating that sit on top of it, usually near the back.  The particles then cause bad breath.  Many persons who start cleaning their tongue regularly as part of their oral hygiene notice that their breath is almost immediately improved.  So how can you eliminate your bad breath by tongue cleaning?

There are many products on the market that are referred to as tongue scrapers and that promise to help you eliminate your bad breath by tongue cleaning.  These scrapers are meant to be used just as they're described; you simply scrape the surface of your tongue as far back as you can without making yourself gag.  This scraping gets those food particles and other residue off the tongue.

Another way you can eliminate your bad breath by tongue cleaning is by using your toothbrush every time you brush your teeth.  This might actually work better for some because the tongue is very sensitive and scrapers can sometimes be painful.  Using the foam of your toothpaste as a buffer or guard can help to eliminate some of the discomfort you might normally feel.

The one concern about this is that you then have those food bits on your toothbrush and this isn't healthy.  Rinse your toothbrush in very hot water after every use and allow it to dry thoroughly as well.  Remember that while you can typically eliminate your bad breath by tongue cleaning this isn't the only thing you should be doing.  Floss every time you brush to get those food particles out from between your teeth, and rinse with an alcohol free mouthwash after you brush.  Make sure you're adequately hydrated throughout the day so that your mouth can cleanse itself.

And if you can't eliminate your bad breath by tongue cleaning and by taking care of your oral hygiene, it's time to see your dentist.  He or she can conduct a thorough examination and make a better recommendation for you.
